The Segura Drywall Process

We believe in transparency and efficiency. Our process is designed to make your drywall project (from minor repairs to new custom homes) as smooth and stress-free as possible.

Our Approach

We've simplified the drywall process into three clear phases designed around your convenience and peace of mind. It begins with Phase 1: Clear Planning and Upfront Pricing, where the impact for you is gaining confidence through a transparent proposal and a finalized timeline. Next is Phase 2: Professional, Clean Execution, which delivers the high-quality installation, meticulous finishing, and texturing you expect, minimizing disruption to your home. Finally, Phase 3: Your Seamless, Guaranteed Finish ensures your complete satisfaction with a thorough final review, easy approval, and the assurance of our workmanship warranty.

Phase 1: Clear Planning and Upfront Pricing

1. Contact and Consultation

The process begins when you reach out to us via our website, social media, phone, or email.

  • Initial Discussion: We gather basic information about your project, including the location, scope, and any specific timelines you have in mind.

  • On-Site Visit: For complex repairs or new builds, we will schedule a convenient time to visit the site. This allows us to accurately assess the existing conditions, take measurements, and understand the working environment.

  • For New Construction: If you are building a new home or addition, we will review your blueprints/plans, contact you with any questions or clarifications, and use this information to prepare a detailed proposal.

2. Comprehensive Proposal

Following the consultation, site visit, or plan review, we develop a detailed, no-obligation proposal.

  • Scope of Work: The proposal clearly outlines all services to be performed.

  • Material Specification: We outline the specific materials for the project, including the type of drywall, joint compound, and the chosen finish (such as smooth, skip trowel, santa fe, knockdown, or orange peel).

  • Cost Breakdown: You receive a transparent breakdown of labor and material costs.

  • Project Timeline: We provide an estimated start date and expected duration for the work.

3. Agreement and Scheduling

Once you review and approve the proposal, we finalize the agreement.

  • Contract Signing: We formalize the agreement, ensuring all project details, costs, and timelines are understood.

  • Deposit: A deposit may be required to secure your project slot and order necessary materials.

  • Scheduling: We book your project into our calendar and confirm the final start date.

Phase 2: Professional, Clean Execution

4. Delivery of Materials and Equipment

Our team arrives on the scheduled date to prepare the site and bring in all required resources.

  • Material and Equipment Delivery: All necessary drywall material is delivered and stocked on site by one of our trusted suppliers. Any necessary tools and equipment, including specialized equipment (e.g., scaffolding, texture sprayers, heaters), is also delivered in preparation for drywall installation and finishing.

5. Drywall Installation

This is where your walls start to take shape as our drywall experts begin installation, ensuring quality and precision.

  • Installation/Hanging: Drywall panels are cut, fitted, and secured to the walls and ceilings with meticulous care to minimize gaps and ensure a solid foundation. If during installation any framing imperfections are noticed, we will communicate with you to ensure it is fixed so the installation results are excellent and will pass inspection.

  • Repairs: For patching and repair projects, damaged sections are expertly removed and replaced, aligning perfectly with existing walls.

6. Taping, Mudding, and Finishing

The most crucial step for a flawless finish. We apply multiple coats, allowing for necessary drying time between each.

  • Taping: Joint tape is embedded in the first layer of joint compound ("mud") over all seams and fasteners.

  • Mudding (Coating): Subsequent coats of joint compound are applied, feathered out, and smoothed to seamlessly blend the joints with the wall surface, eliminating any visible lines or imperfections.

  • Sanding: Once completely dry, the surfaces are carefully sanded to a smooth, uniform finish, ready for texturing or painting.

7. Texturing (If Applicable)

If required by the project scope, we apply the specified texture.

  • Texture Matching: For repairs or additions, we expertly match existing textures (e.g., popcorn removal, knockdown, orange peel, skip trowel, santa fe) for a consistent look.

  • New Texture Application: New textures are applied professionally, ensuring even coverage and pattern consistency across the entire surface.

8. Cleanup and Inspection

We ensure the workspace is immaculate before presenting the finished product.

  • Thorough Cleanup: Our team removes all debris, tools, and plastic sheeting, leaving the area clean and ready for the next phase (i.e., painting).

  • Quality Inspection: A final internal inspection is performed by one of our team members to ensure the work meets the highest Segura Drywall standards.

9. Client Walkthrough and Final Payment

Your satisfaction is our ultimate goal.

  • Client Walkthrough: We ensure every detail meets your expectations and the agreed-upon scope of work.

  • Punch List (If Necessary): Any minor corrections are promptly addressed.

  • Final Payment: Upon your final approval, the remaining balance is collected.

10. Follow-Up

We stand by our work.

  • Warranty: All Segura Drywall projects are backed by a workmanship warranty (details provided in the contract).

  • Feedback: We value your feedback and may follow up to ensure long-term satisfaction with our service.
